The kindness and generosity of people in this town, Hastings, never ceases to amaze me. I am often humbled and even overwhelmed. On the other hand, I have never experienced so much negativity and prejudice as I do here.
I have also experienced an incredibly high number of empty promises. I have had offers of help that have not materialised, including at least three offers to do some welding that I need doing. One person has said that they would do some welding three times and three times has never turned up! It beggars belief that some-one would offer to do something knowing that they have no intention of following through.
I have had a notable number of people say that they want to ‘paint’ me over the years. Thus far, it has never happened. One thing that has been muted on occasions recently is being interviewed. As you know, I was interviewed a few months back. Since then, I have had at least two others asking to interview me. Nothing has happened, of course.
The one thing that seems to prevail is that those that say that they are going to do something, rarely do. Those that say nothing, do everything!
A point in question is Craig, a local who has a video blog. (https://youtube.com/c/Craigscabin). I believe a video blog is called a vlog (?) Craig is some-one who ‘follows’ my Fb page (https://www.facebook.com/WizardSteve.blog/). As I understand it, when ‘lockdown’ happened, instead of sitting around moaning about being bored, he got out and did things. He took his children out and learnt to forage and discover Nature, etc. He built a cabin with pallets in his garden and has even put a reference book together. He has made several videos documenting his adventures.
I have only met Craig once. He stopped by one day. He had left a sack of scrap wood some time previously and came by to collect the sack as it is a hessian sack which is used regularly. We had a bit of a chinwag, which invariably happens when anybody visits.
Imagine my surprise when I was told that he had made a video promoting my blog!
