Apparently, some-one....., more wood, dinners and a table

At the beginning of the week I had the Council turn up. (Apparently, some-one had put in a complaint.) They took a photograph of a small pile of offcuts that were laying on the path next to my truck. I was told that I couldn’t leave the pile there. No problem. I simply moved it and had a quick tidy up. Problem solved.

At the end of the week I had the fire brigade turn up. (Apparently, some-one thought my caravan was on fire!) Two engines came. A fireman came over and asked if I was alright. I said, “Of course. Why?” I also noticed that he appeared very young. He seemed to me to be a child. Maybe it’s me getting old! Anyway, he explained that they had had a call from a concerned passer-by. I was not impressed and pointed out the obvious. i.e. That my burner was on. I said, “Surely some-one who sees smoke coming out of a chimney as they drive by can deduce the obvious!” Apparently not. The young fireman didn’t appear impressed with my annoyance of some-one wasting their time.

In the meantime, I have been inundated with wood, though not the sizes I need. Still, I now have plenty for an array of jobs. I also still need a small sheet of aluminium. Michael is going to buy me the wood I need for the doorframe, so I will be able to get on with that. Daniel ordered the glass I need. As soon as the kitchen and bedroom windows are glazed I’ll take the front room one out.

Stuart and his girlfriend, Kayleigh have been bringing dinners, including a couple of roasts! They nearly always stop for a brew and a toke. I cooked for them one evening. It was lovely to cook for other’s for a change.

I have also been given an old tree stump table. The stump is okay, but the tabletop has cracked, warped and had sun damage. I am going to have a go at saving it. If successful, I’ll varnish it and find a buyer.
